Curriculum
Overview
At Homefields Primary School we want all children to develop attitudes, skills knowledge (ASK) that will equip them for a successful life. Through a creative and exciting curriculum our children engage in all areas of the Early Years and National Curriculum and at the core of our ethos sit our five attitudes to learning, enabling our children to be;
Responsible, Reflective, Resourceful, Resilient, Reciprocal
Our curriculum adopts the principles of the developing key skills(Threshold Concepts) and knowledge that are sequenced and progressive from Yr 1-6. Children will revisit skills and make links in their learning, building on what they know. Enabling them to know and remember more.
Reading
Reading is given a high priority in our curriculum, as it is the ability to read and understand which opens up learning for children. Quality texts are woven into our curriculum design as is vocabulary acquisition as we believe the development of children’s vocabulary is a vital tool in learning and understanding the full curriculum. Alongside this we aim to foster a ‘love’ of reading through daily reading for pleasure sessions.
